The Championships are held every October and are open to any Appeti Tennis players. Lots of players got involved this year. Entrees ranged from the Tennis School pupils, this year including new pupil Mia Vuckovic from Serbia, to parents who finally get a chance to get on court and hit some balls rather than spectating.
There were plenty of matches over the course of the month with everyone competing hard to get their names on the Appeti Tennis Championships Winners Board and by the time Finals weekend arrived there were some exciting matches lined up.
The 14U Girls Doubles Final was a great match with Amelia Monteith and Marta Poriete beating Mia Vuckovic and Afalina Vinogradova 7-6, 5-7, 10-3. This was an exciting match that was fought hard on both sides and kept those watching on the edge of their seats as the score swung back and forth between the two teams.
The Ladies Final was also really close with Vicki Clark beating Sally Griffin 6-4, 2-6, 12-10. Graham Hunt and Kevin Franks also kept spectators guessing with an extremely close match against Heinrich Nienaber and Darren Griffin eventually taking the win 2-6, 6-3, 15-13.
Ciaran Brewer had a very successful weekend taking the 14U and 16U Boys titles as well as the 14U Mixed Doubles title. And congratulations to Mia Vuckovic who in her first Appeti Tennis Championships won the 14U and 16U Girls titles.
