April 2017 - Sutton Easter Tournament

Easter Sunday saw Appeti Tennis on a hunt, not for eggs, but results at the Sutton Tennis Academy Easter Tournament. The tournament, run by Tennis Services UK, is always a favourite - if not for the chance to play on some great clay courts.

The 12U Boys Draw saw Ulrich making a run to the Quarter Finals and in the Girls Draw, Afalina, once again made a fantastic run to the Semi Final only losing to the Number 1 seed 4-6, 6-7.

The 14U Singles Draws saw some great performances and matches. Firstly, from the Boy’s Draw with Kai, Ulrich, Toby, Ciaran, Seb and John-Mark all competing really strongly.

In the 14U Main Draw Ciaran kept us all on our toes by putting us through a number of 3 set thrillers, including shot of the tournament an amazing hot dog winner at 4 - 8 down in a Championship Tie Break, to make it to the Final where he lost 1-6, 4-6 against Robert Beznea. Well done to Ciaran on a fantastic tournament and a breakthrough 3 week tournament period, making the Semi Finals in the first two weeks and Finals of two draws in the third week.

Amelia made a strong comeback alongside her partner, Islay Thornicroft, in the 16U Girls Doubles Final taking the title, 3-6, 6-2, 10-6 against Lara Bakhaya and Lucy Webber. Ollie also took the 16U Boys Doubles title in 3 sets alongside his partner, Archie Turner, winning 5-7, 6-2, 10-8 against Jorge Beltrao and Vraj Patel.

The Boys 16U Main Draw proved to be an exciting event for Appeti Tennis as Ollie and Ciaran both made it to the Final. As you can imagine this a nail biting match for everyone and with Ciaran having already made it to the 14U Main Draw Final and Ollie making to the Semis of the 18U Boys Draw both boy’s confidence was running high but Ollie got the edge over Ciaran and went on to win 6-2, 6-1. We couldn’t be prouder of both boys and it was just brilliant to watch an all Appeti Final.

Well, the first run of Summer Tournaments has come to an end and we are really proud of every single Appeti player who competed!!
