The first week of our summer tournament swing kicked off at Dukes Meadow Tennis Club in Chiswick, London. The club boasted a 9 court tennis centre, 5 indoor hard court and 4 outside clay. But this doesn't scare Team Appeti.
We had everybody from the Tennis School competing hard during the week and by Saturday we were able to celebrate 8 finals for our Appeti players.

The week started on Sunday with Ruben in the 9U Boys event. He managed to win 3 out of 5 matches. He saved the best till last, winning a mammoth match, 10-8 in the 3rd set!
In the under 12’s Boys, Ulrich made the quarters where he lost a close match to the number 1 seed and eventual winner. On the girls side, Afalina made the semi finals, where like Ulrich, she lost to the eventual winner in an agonisingly close 10-6 3rd set.
In the under 14’s Boys and Girls draw Ciaran and and Marta battled their way through the draw making it to their respective finals, but couldn’t quite get over the last hurdle to take the win. Nevertheless it was a great week of performances from the pair.
16’s Boys saw the first final win for one of our players. Ollie, as number 1 seed played some brilliant tennis in the final, recovering from a break down to win 7-5 6-1. Ollie, also managed to reach the semi’s of the boys 18’s losing only to the eventual winner of the tournament 10-6 in a close fought 3rd set.

In the Men’s, Seb came through a tough draw managing to beat the 2nd and 3rd seed on his way to winning the title with a dominant 6-3 6-2 performance in the final. This was a great achievement for Seb as it was his first Grade 3 tournament win and his first full tournament back under the wing of Team Appeti!
The other 4 finals came in the form of doubles. Marta and Afalina won the 14’s Girl’s draw 6-1 6-0 in the final. In the boys, Ciaran and Toby were unlucky to come runners up against the 1st seeds losing out 10-7 in the 3rd set.
But in the 16’s, the pair were able to come from a set down to win the final 10-7 in the 3rd set.
Lastly in the Girls 16’s doubles, Marta and Amelia were unfortunate in the final losing out to the Number 1 seeds but worked great together.
A really good first week for Appeti Tennis, with some brilliant results and shows exciting promise for the summer ahead.
