Appeti Tennis set off on it’s annual trip to the The Aegon International Tennis at Devonshire Park in Eastbourne on Monday.
There wasn’t much happening on arrival except a big rain cloud! But this is Appeti Tennis and we had a plan that involved bowling to pass the time while we waited for the rain to clear!!
Of course the competition was fiercer than any tennis match and lots of fun was had.
Heading back to Devonshire Park our hopes were lifted and lunch was eaten in the Tennis Pavilion - as the sun started to emerge we decided it was time for a trip to the Ice Cream Parlour - nice and close so we could run across when play was announced.
By early afternoon we were taking our seats on Centre Court to watch some great matches. The first line up saw British Girl Tara Moore playing against Russian, Ekaterina Makarova. In what proved to be a very exciting match with both ladies playing some great shots Makarova won through to take the match 7-5, 6-4.
This match was followed by Heather Watson against Elena Vesnina. From the start Vesnina proved to be stronger than Watson and never really lost control of the match to take the win 6-2, 6-3. Some of the group quickly headed round to where the players leave the court to get Vesnina's autograph and a group photo!
The rain couldn’t stop Appeti Tennis from having a great day at Eastbourne!!
