Appeti Tennis, January 25 2017

January 2017 - Appeti Tennis Become Part of the LTA's Performance Network.

After a series of visits by Nick Brown and Mark Hayden, from the Lawn Tennis Associations Performance Team, we are pleased to announce that Appeti Tennis are now officially part of the National Performance Network.

Kent has over 100 tennis clubs and centres and we are 1 of only 5 to receive this status. In total there are only 16 in the South East region and 64 in the country.

The LTA’s Performance Network is designed to aid Tennis Centres and Clubs that are producing regional and national level juniors and who are providing a high standard of coaching and programmes to its players. The support given by the LTA is provided by way of access to coaches, courses and funding.

Over the past year Appeti Tennis have built a great relationship with the LTA’s Performance Team and Mark and Nick have made regular visits to the The Tennis School to assess the programme and players.

However, it has proved hard for them to to resist jumping on court to offer lots of tactical and technical advice and getting stuck in with coaching, match practice, fitness and drills. The Tennis School has hugely benefitted from this and really look forward to the visits.

It has also been an amazing opportunity for the Tennis School pupils to question Nick, a former ATP and Davis Cup player and currently 12U Boys Captain for Great Britain. He has been happy to share his background, experiences and stories about his many matches with other well known players from his time on the professional tennis circuit.

After confirming our place as part of the Performance Network, Mark Hayden, Regional Performance Coordinator commented:

> “The Appeti Tennis School is a really lively, vibrant coaching programme where the coaches have set up a fantastic opportunity for the players to access a full time tennis schedule which is played at prime times in the day. School is fitted in around their playing schedule and this allows the children to maximise their potential. There is very much a family feel to the set up and the children have been brought up to be respectful, independent and to appreciate hard work. All vital aspects for success on the world stage which is very much the aim of the programme.”

This is great recognition for Appeti Tennis, who operate a unique coach led indoor centre and have a history of producing players of regional, national and international standard.
