Massive Shipment sent to Ghana

Another shipment has left for Ghana. This time we have used boxes, these boxes hold the same amount as our infamous blue barrels but are much cheaper to ship. This means with the £1000 that was kindly donated we can ship even more items.

Typically 1 barrel can hold:

200 tennis balls / 10 pairs of trainers / 35 items of clothing / 20 rackets

Marty’s cousin, Juno was visiting from Ghana. She is 11 and was super excited to be able to help sort through and pack the donations.  The process of preparing the barrels starts with organising the donations of clothing, rackets, balls, bottles, trainers and many other items that people have kindly donated.

This can take a while as we have 100’s of items to go through, grouping them and counting them, before taking an inventory and a photo of every item.  We work closely with the delivery company to ensure that we have a date that the shipment will be collected and that we have enough barrels and boxes to ship everything.

We have sent: 1700 match balls / 212 green balls / 140 orange balls / 110 sponge balls / 37 outdoor red balls / 124 items of tennis clothing / 68 rackets / 40 pairs of trainers / 12 racket bags / 14 water bottles / 4 ball buckets / 1 tennis net
